| Giuliani erects 9-11
memorial statue to his political career NEW YORK - Former New York City mayor and failed Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani has unveiled a 9-11 memorial statue to commemorate his political career. The memorial consists of a 30 foot tall sculpture of the former mayor on a ten foot tall granite pedestal into which are chiseled the words, "Be afraid, be very afraid." Reading from prepared remarks, Giuliani said, as the statue was unveiled to the gasps of the crowd, "Lest we never forget that I tried to parlay the tragedy and suffering of thousands of people into becoming President of these United States. Sadly, I was not successful in my campaign, but the great sacrifice and toll in human life that creates political opportunity must not be forgotten." Reactions in the crowd were mixed as some people yelled out, "We love you, Rudy," while others shouted, "What the f***! It's a statue of you."
The Rudy Guiliani 9-11 memorial statue has yet to find a permanent location in the city due to a lack of interest by Donald Trump and the four other real estate moguls who own most of New York. The mayor of Hoboken, New Jersey has said they would be interested in hosting the statue at the entrance to their landfill, for a price. |
