Republican Senator claims Obama is not "bi-partisan."

WASHINGTON D.C. - Senator Mike Enzi, Republican from Wyoming, declared that President Barack Obama is definitely not bi-partisan. Citing the current legislative struggle over health care reform, Enzi said the President talks about bi-partisanship, but never actually crosses over to fully engage with Republicans. According to Enzi, "Many of us on the Republican side of the aisle have been bi-curious about the Democrats, but haven't found a Democrat that awakens bi-partisanship in us. We were hoping Obama would be the one."

Enzi said he was personally willing to explore some new legislative positions with Obama, but was disappointed the White House was still promoting a public option. "For me," explained Enzi, "bi-partisanship would have to be a private matter." The Wyoming Senator did note that Republican Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins from Maine are very open about their history of bi-partisanship. "It's different though with women Senators. I think women tend to be more open about being bi," he said.

Some Republicans are still hoping for a bi-partisan relationship with the President, according to Enzi. "Senator Larry Craig has been anxiously tapping his foot in anticipation of Obama reaching under the partisan partition. Craig told me he is tired of this being stalled, but would take what he could get."

White House spokesperson, Robert Gibbs, responded to Enzi's statement, saying, "President Obama experimented with bi-partisanship while serving in the Illinois State Senate, but quite honestly didn't enjoy it very much." Gibbs continued, "The President encourages those Republican Senators who are interested in bi-partisanship to consider the example of Arlen Specter."

Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania flew to Amsterdam to undergo partisan reassignment surgery and now is a full time Democrat.
